Memorial Day Campout

May 30 – 31, 2010

Kinnus, the annual campout sponsored by the Jewish Committee on Scouting on each Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day Weekend is now open for registration! The event will take place at beautiful Camp Josepho in the Santa Monica Mountains just 30 minutes from the 405 at Sunset Boulevard.

Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, Webelos, Boy Scouts, Venturers, Girl Scouts, and their families are invited to experience Jewish Scouting including a full slate of activities, campfire, and Kosher food. Jewish Scouts of all denominations (and other Scouts) and their families are invited.

This year our theme is “100 Years of Jewish Scouting.”

Kinnus runs from Sunday, May 30th at 10 AM through Monday, May 31th at 2 PM. The cost is $45 per person and includes:

  • Four Kosher meals plus campfire snack
  • Campsite for an enjoyable night of camping
  • Sunday night campfire
  • BB Guns, merit badges and lots of other child friendly programming

  1. If you wish to pay-on line using PayPal:
    • Type your information into pages 4 – 6
    • Save a copy on your computer for backup
    • Click the green “Pay Now” button on page 6
    • Make your PayPal payment
    • Enter your PayPal confirmation number right below the green button on page 6
    • Click the blue “Submit Registration Form” button on page 6
  2. If you wish to pay by check:
    • Type your information into pages 4 – 6
    • Save a copy on your computer for backup
    • Print out the registration pages (pages 4-6)
    • Sign the form on page 4 and mail all three pages and your check per the instructions on page 6

  • 10 – 11 AM arrival, check in, set up camp
    • Jump Rope contest
    • Hula Hoop contest
  • 11 – 11:30 Opening Ceremony at the Parade Grounds
  • 11:30 – 12:30 Sunday Morning Activities
    • Crafts projects in the Lodge (lanyards, fuse beads, leather crafts)
    • Tentatively: Archery
  • 12:30 – 2:00 Lunch and Clean Up
    • New this year:  no need to bring lunch from home; lunch is provided.
  • Merit Badges for Boy Scouts
    • 1:00 – 3:00 Electricity
    • 1:00 – 3:00 Weather (pre-requisite requirements)
    • 1:00 – 5:00 Horsemanship ($75 fee)
  • 2:00 – 5:30 Sunday Afternoon Activities
    • BB Guns for Cub Scouts and Siblings
    • Tentatively: Archery for Cub Scouts and Siblings
    • Crafts projects in the Lodge
  • 4:00 – 5:30 Knot tying with Rabbi Kraft
  • 4:00 – 5:30 Knife safety with Yaacov Klutch
  • 5:30 – 7:00 Dinner and clean up
  • 7:00 – 8:30 Skits in the Lodge
  • 8:00 – 8:30 Prayer Service
